About Me

Welcome to the Diary of a SoCal mama

Helping moms navigate Motherhood in a busy world

Why I’m here

When I had my daughter I didn’t have any close friends with babies. Having kids was something I had considered but it wasn’t my big dream in life so I hadn’t learned much about raising babies. I am definitely a Type A person, I love to research, to know all the facts and have a plan. Kids are great for shoving all your plans out the window!

I was fortunate enough to become a part of some great online groups. Between getting advice from other moms and copious amounts of research I felt as prepared as you can be for dealing with everything that comes up while raising a child. There were some areas, like breastfeeding, where I was woefully unprepared. I want to help other moms be prepared where I was not, and to share the knowledge that I have gained, as others shared their knowledge with me.

Do you have a baby on the way? Are you a busy mama trying to keep up with life as well as your kids? Then this is the blog for you. It’s full of tips for preparing for baby, breastfeeding, baby led weaning, baby/toddler activities, parenting, and mom ramblings. I hope you’ll take anything you learn here and pass it on to another mama in the future.

Who I am

I’m Shari, born and raised in Southern California. I live here with my husband Robert, a children’s pastor, our daughter, and our puggle. I’d consider myself a semi-crunchy type of mom. We did extended breastfeeding, try to practice RIE style parenting, and planned for a natural birth. I also follow the AAP safe sleep guidelines and believe in vaccinations.

Before having my daughter I gained a Master’s Degree in non-profit management and worked with senior citizens. I was as surprised as anyone when I did not want to go back to work after my daughter was born. Money is tight but we’ve managed to keep me home with our daughter and I wouldn’ trade it for the world!

I live for coffee (except during the 1st trimester of pregnancy)! I’m a nerdy mom who is into Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and Disneyland. I keep trying to convince my husband that I’m cool but he doesn’t believe me for some reason….
